Graduation season, temperatures in the 80s and trees in full leaf mean one thing: summertime. And, in Red Wing, this warm season brings with it the annual summer reading events at the Red Wing Public Library.

Children (birth to entering 6 grade) can now register online or in person for the summer reading program. Once registered, kids can pick up their reading packet from the service desk. The packet includes logs for kids to track reading or reading-related activities. After seven days of reading for 20 minutes or more, children can turn in the completed log for a prize.

Teens (students going into grades 6 to 12) are also invited to the reading fun. For every 250 pages read and logged during the summer, teens will be entered to win prizes: Red Wing Water Park passes, gift cards, a Kindle eReader and a grand prize: a gift bag filled with books, movies and other items.

The library will host a variety of events and programs throughout the summer. Though all are free, some require a ticket or registration to participate.
