The Tarnished Brass will perform at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Ellsworth Public Library's Together Thursday at East End Park.

The group has been together since 1967; most are alumni of the University of Minnesota band program. Several members are retired music educators. While the ensemble has enjoyed 52 years of performing together, the frequency of those performances has declined to about two per year as individuals now reside in five states including Massachusetts, Utah and Colorado. Recent appearances include: The Cortez Colorado Cultural Center, Chanhassen High School, and The Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis.

The members of the Tarnished Brass are trumpets: Barry Fox, Chaska. Minn.; Mike Fuller, River Falls; and Mark Olson, Boston, Mass.; horn, Jim McCreary, St. Paul; trombone, Larry Vogel, Fairmont, Minn.; euphonium, Bob Waggoner, Cortez, Colo.; and tuba, Eric Peterson, Minneapolis. Former tubist and now composer, Tom Root, Ogden, Utah, is also with the group this summer.
