Red Wing residents packed the Sheldon Theatre's main floor on Wednesday, May 22, to get a sneak peek of everything coming to the Sheldon starting this fall.

Once hors d'oeuvres by Blu Dog were consumed and community members meandered from the lobby to their seats, Sheldon Executive Director Bonnie Schock began introducing Red Wing to the acts and artists that will perform during the theatre's 2019-2020 season.

A theme of the night was "alchemy," or chemistry. Schock told the crowd:

"The moment you arrive you know there's something truly special going on. It's a rare kind of alchemy, really. All of the individual ingredients are there. There's small town hospitality and a warm welcome with a smile, world class artists from near and far in harmony with passionate, local creators."

The blend of the near and far, world class and locally loved, was heard in the audience's reactions to groups being announced. The crowd cheered and whistled for Minnesota-based artists as well as Grammy winners and nationally known names such as Aaron Neville.
