ST. PAUL - A St. Paul market was raided after several people became ill after using drugs purchased there, and Ramsey County Sheriff's officials say one of the overdoses was fatal.
The investigation began after the sheriff's department received a tip that two people were selling medications and giving medical advice at Hmongtown Marketplace, including administering injections and IV's. The raid turned up hundreds of pounds of drugs, including unmarked and mismarked pills. Among the items found in the investigation was cyanide, which looked similar to the poison Chue Lor used when he killed himself using cyanide after he killed his estranged wife and her brother.
Detectives say the market management and vendors had been warned about illegal sales several times before the raid.
