Love Baskets is starting their 2017 Christmas season. Love Baskets is a joint effort of area churches in the New Richmond and Somerset area, paired with the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. It provides gifts for families that otherwise would not be able to afford them for their children.

Families are referred by schools, human service agencies, churches, friends and neighbors. Applications are available through the schools as well as food shelves, libraries and human services.

There are many ways to help. There is a need for individuals, organizations or businesses to sponsor one or more families. Information can be found at under "Christmas Help" or can be obtained by calling 715-246-4058. In addition, toys, books, warm hats, mittens and scarves are collected at area businesses and churches in designated boxes. Monetary donations can be sent to P.O. Box 142, New Richmond.

Recipients will be matched with sponsors or will receive bags of gifts collected from the community collection boxes. All will be distributed at a Christmas party Sunday, Dec. 17, hosted by the Salvation Army at Somerset Middle School. Volunteers will provide fun activities and snacks for participating families.

The community is invited to participate either by donating, sponsoring, helping with packing or helping with the distribution party. Visit or call 715-246-4058.
