Westfields Hospital announced last week that Nicholas Weiss, MD, orthopaedic surgeon with St. Croix Orthopaedics, has been named medical director for Orthopaedic Services.

Weiss brings a clinical history and presence to the Westfields Hospital campus and in this leadership role will further coordinate efforts with key clinical members of the medical campus to improve communication, patient access and workflow.

"This new appointment will allow us to better assess and grow our services to support the orthopaedic needs of our community, including the development of additional sports-related services on our campus," said Steve Massey, president and CEO of Westfields Hospital. "We look forward to the leadership and expertise Dr. Weiss can provide as we work to deliver an exceptional patient experience at Westfields."

"I grew up in New Richmond and graduated from New Richmond High School," Weiss said. "It's an honor to return to my home town to take up this responsibility. It gives me the opportunity to really make an impact on the quality and availability of orthopaedic services in western Wisconsin."

Weiss is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a subspecialty certification in sports medicine.
