ELLSWORTH -- A mix of creamy and sweet will be found at Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery’s cheese and apple pairing Sept. 14.
The creamery will host its first Apple Festival in celebration of the impending fall season. The festival will provide a variety of samples that pair Ellsworth’s famous cheese with fall’s beloved fruit. A number of local food vendors will hand out free samples of apple-infused foods.

“Everything that we are doing here is all local,” Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery’s sales manager Scott Sweere said.
Sturdiwheat from Red Wing will provide apple cinnamon pancakes. Maiden Rock Apples, Winery and Cidery will have hard ciders and non-alcoholic ciders on site. Ellsworth’s Rush River Orchard will bring apples, while other food vendors will bring their own twist to the festival’s theme.
The creamery will make apple cinnamon cheese curds as a one-day only specialty item. Other foods available to sample will include caramel apple ice cream, apple cheese curd brats and apple curd kabobs with caramel or fudge dipping sauce.
“People can come and eat and have some fun as well,” Sweere said.
He hopes to host similar events throughout the year to engage with the creamery’s customers and be more accessible to customers while marketing the creamery’s products. He said the festival is a community event that will spotlight local food businesses.
The festival is located at Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
“If you haven’t been to the creamery for a while, you should come on in,” Sweere said. “It will be a lot of fun for all ages.”
