Area universities, school districts, businesses and more have announced cancellations of events and classes.
The following lists were updated as of 11:32 p.m. April 3, 2020:
Ongoing closures and cancellations
AARP Tax Counselor sites: The national AARP Federation has ordered all AARP tax sites closed effective Monday, March 16. St Croix and Pierce County sites affected are: Hudson, St Croix Government Center; New Richmond, WITC; River Falls Library, ADRC office in Ellsworth, Pierce County. The tax sites may re-open at a later date for service to seniors and low income residents if allowed by the national AARP office.
City of Afton: All meetings of volunteer commissions and committees are canceled for March and April.
Aging & Disability Resource Center of Pierce County: As of March 16 Senior Dining participants will be asked to take their noon meal as "Grab and Go" to eat at home. Dining together will be temporarily suspended. Broz Senior Dining program on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be temporarily suspended. Meals on Wheels and transportation to medical appointments will continue as usual. Contact the ADRC office at 715-273-6780 to find more resources. A number of community groups and organizations are stepping up to help people get groceries, medication, etc.
Aging & Disability Resource Center of St. Croix County: As of March 16, there will be no onsite congregate meals at any of the Senior Center locations in St. Croix County until further notice. Participants who resides within the community and are in need of the noon meal, a “Grab and Go” option will be provided. Participants will need to call their local Senior Center 24 hours in advance to reserve a meal.
Chippewa Valley Technical College, Eau Claire: Spring commencement has been postponed; it will now be held in conjunction with the summer ceremony scheduled for Thursday, July 30. Campuses are closed to the public and face-to-face instruction is suspended. Classes will resume March 30 with alternative delivery methods. Updates at https://www.cvtc.edu
Crossroads Church, all campuses: All weekend services are canceled and will move strictly to online video broadcasts until further notice.
Compeer Financial, all offices: Compeer Financial will close all offices in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin as of March 18 but will maintain virtual services by phone and online. All in-person client events scheduled through April 15 are canceled.
Dakota County Library and Parks: All public programs and events at county library locations are canceled beginning Friday, March 13. Park events are canceled starting Monday, March 16. All cancellations will last through Sunday, April 19. While library locations remain open, all meeting rooms will be unavailable through April 19. Homework Help and Home Library Service are canceled through April 19.
Eastern Twin Cities Islamic Center: All daily prayers and other activities are suspended until further notice.
Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce: Chamber events and committee meetings have been cancelled through March 31. The chamber will reassess at that time to determine if the April events and meetings should be cancelled, postponed or held virtually. T-Bar Ribbon Cutting will be postponed and the March member meeting will be cancelled. Information from the meeting will be available to members virtually and individuals who already registered will get refunds through Eventbrite. Those on the Connect Communities and Cheese Curd Festival committee will be cancelling face-to-face meetings until March 31.
Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival: This year's cheese curd festival which was going to be held June 26 and 27 is canceled.
Ellsworth Public Library: Ellsworth Public Library is closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The library was closed March 17 to March 19 for cleaning and will continue to be closed.
The book drop is closed and "door pick-up services" are suspended. Library staff will be working from home. Library sponsored programming is suspended to April 5. Due dates for checked out material is extended until the library opens up once again.
Elmwood Public Library: The Elmwood Public Library is closed until further notice. The library will reevaluate in two weeks (beginning of April) and make possible adjustments. Inter-library loans and couriers are shut down. Loans will be extended.
First United Methodist Church, Red Wing: Community meals are canceled until further notice.
Goodhue County 4-H Hog Roast Fundraiser: The Hog Roast Committee announced they will be cancelling the annual Hog Roast Fundraiser this year. A refund will be given to those who have already purchased tickets.
Goodhue County Historical Museum, Red Wing: The museum is postponing all public events and lectures from March 16 to April 15. The building will be closed through April 15.
Goodhue County Jail, Red Wing: The jail won't be allowing visitors as of March 14, according to a sign posted on the Goodhue County Justice Center's entrance doors.
Central Park, HealthEast Sports Center and Lookout Ridge indoor playground, Woodbury: Closed until further notice. Updates will be provided by April 1.
Hammond Community Library, Hammond: Closed until further notice. Curbside pickup is available from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., while the library is closed. Curbside items to that may be requested: books, audio books, videos, food pantry items, craft packs, kid activity packs. To place a request, the library can be reached by phone (715-796-2281), email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or via their Facebook page.
Hudson Area Public Library, Hudson: The library will close Monday, March 15, after a Saturday vote by the board. The board will monitor and evaluate when to reopen.
Lake City Public Schools: Closed Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17 (funeral for Paul Holland). Closed March 18-27.
Plum City Public Library: Effectively immediately will only be open Wednesdays by appointment only. Appointments are available for 15 minutes slots, please call the library for availability. All items checked out are not due until April 6. If an item was overdue, it has also been changed to April 6.
Pierce County Historical Association: The association is canceling their Annual Meeting which was going to be held on March 29. Other events to be canceled include the MSRB Chapter meeting on April 20 and the garage sale planned for April 29 through May 5. No plans to reschedule have been made yet.
Pierce County Jail, Ellsworth: The jail is currently limiting all contact with visitors as of March 16.
Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services: PPCS lobby is closed temporarily to the public Friday, March 20 until further notice.
Prescott Fire Department Breakfast Feed: The Prescott Fire Department is canceling all remaining Pancake Breakfast Feeds for this year. If you have a season pass for the pancake feeds they will be honored for next year's feeds.
University of Minnesota: In-person classes suspended at all five campuses until at least April 1. More details
University of Minnesota Extension / 4-H: All face-to-face events, meetings and courses through May 15
University of Wisconsin - River Falls: Classes are suspended March 16-20; spring break March 23-27; classes move to alternative instruction beginning March 30 through the end of spring semester.
Minnesota Department of Transportation: MnDOT will postpone all public meetings and project open houses statewide for at least the next 30 day, including all MnDOT-hosted events.
Minnesota State: Spring break at MSC Southeast extended two weeks; classes resume March 30. More details
Minnesota State High School League postseason tournament: The Girls Basketball State Tournament and all Boys Section and State Basketball Tournaments are canceled. Section Speech Tournament events for the week of March 15-21 have been postponed indefinitely. Updates at legacy.mshsl.org/mshsl
New Richmond School District: The following events are canceled: Eighth-grade transitional meetings (March 12), 3-on-3 indoor soccer tournament, all youth sports using SDNR facilities, all school sponsored field trips, all Community Education classes.
Phipps Center for the Arts: The center will be closed for all activities March 17-April 5.
Pierce County Relay for Life: The April 3 event in River Falls has been suspended. Coordinators are waiting on a rescheduling date. Updates at www.facebook.com/RFRelayForLife
Red Wing Environmental Learning Center: All programs are canceled through March 30.
Red Wing Pier 55: Red Wing Area Seniors is closing Pier 55 effective Monday, March 16. The center distribute medical equipment by appointment only. At this time, Annadee’s Closet will remain open for business and will accept donations.
Red Wing Public Library: The library is closed as of Monday, March 16. Digital resources at redwing.lib.mn.us/online-resources.
Rivertown Comics & Games, Red Wing: Store is temporarily closed.
River Falls Lions Club Easter egg hunt: The event is postponed indefinitely.
River Falls Public Library: The library is closed as of Tuesday, March 16 and is anticipated to remain closed until April 7. The Big Fun Lab, all meetings rooms are closed and library-planned events and book clubs are postponed as of Sunday, March 15 until April 10. Meeting rooms will not be booked for 90 days. River Falls government meetings: All city board, committee, and commission meetings canceled until scheduled meetings in May. More details at www.rfcity.org
River Falls Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau: The Chamber office is closed to the public but staff are still available by phone and email at 715-425-2533 and email@example.com.
River Falls police department: Closed to the public.
Sheldon Theatre, Red Wing: Events postponed through at least April 4. More details at www.sheldontheatre.org
Spring Valley Public Library: Library is closed until April 24. All library programs including - Tuesday Storytime, March 27 Film Night, March 28 author event with Jenny Knipfer and April 3 Early release school program are cancelled. Due dates for checked out material is extended to May 1 and late fees will not be accrued during the closure. Wisconsin Library Systems cancelled inter-library loan courier so the library will not be receiving library requests now until potentially Monday, April 27. Hold items will have extended pick-up time.
Washington County Library: All branches are closed until at least March 24, and all library programs have been canceled through April 15.
University of Wisconsin-River Falls: Classes suspended March 16-29; alternative methods of instruction begins March 30. More details

Vasa Free Community Dinner: The April dinner is canceled.
WideSpot, “Don’t Drink the Water”: The production scheduled for March 20-22 in Stockholm, Wis. is canceled.
Wisconsin Indian Head Technical College: Spring break extended one week; classes resume online or with alternative delivery methods March 30. More details
Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament: All remaining games of the State Girls Basketball Tournament, and the boys basketball sectional finals and the State Tournament are canceled. Updates at www.wiaawi.org/
Wisconsin schools: All K-12 Wisconsin schools will close Wednesday, March 18. More details

Woodbury Area Chamber of Commerce: All in-person meetings (including Good Morning Woodbury, Business After Hours, Lunch and Learn, and ribbon cutting events) are suspended until April 6. City of Woodbury: The Playground Egg Hunt and Adaptive Playground Egg Hunt have been canceled.
River Falls Chamber Coffee: The event has been canceled.
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Hastings: The Rivertown Lions Club's annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny has been canceled.
City of Cottage Grove: The Easter Egg Hunt has been canceled.
City of Woodbury: The Excellent Egg Frenzy and Flashlight Egg Hunt have been canceled.
Kinni Corridor Collaborative: Board meeting has been canceled.
Woodbury Community EXPO 2020: The event has been canceled.
Indianhead Sheep and Goat Breeders Spring Sale, River Falls: The event at UW-River Falls is canceled.
Artis Senior Living grand opening, Woodbury: postponed. However, they will begin accepting residents April 6 at their 64-suite memory-care facility at 8155 Afton Road..
Goodhue County Home Study “One Day Tour," Winona: The tour is canceled. Checks will be shredded and not cashed.
Lakeside Cemetery Association, Hastings: The annual meeting has been canceled.
Rush River Trail Riders Snowmobile Club: RRTR Snowmobile Club's monthly euchre tournament is canceled. The club hopes to start the tournament once again in the fall.
Plum City American Legion fish fry: Canceled
City of River Falls Business Improvement District (BID) meeting: The 8:30 a.m. meeting is canceled.
River Falls city council meeting: The 6:30 p.m. meeting is canceled.
Cottage Grove Cemetery Association meeting: This meeting has been postponed.
St. Croix Valley Beekeepers Association: The April meeting is canceled. Notes from State Bee Inspector Dan Ziehli’s presentation will be posted on Facebook.
River Falls Chamber Bluegrass, Bourbon and Brews: This event is canceled April 17-19.
Pierce Pepin County Spring Clean Sweep: The clean sweep has been canceled. Look for the Fall Clean Sweep in September.
Spring Showcase, Cottage Grove: The event has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
St. Francis School Gala: Event is postponed to May 16. If the large gathering ban is not lifted by that time, they will host a digital gala through a mobile bidding program.
River Falls Chamber Business Breakfast: This even has been canceled.
Plum City American Legion fish fry: Canceled
Plum City/Town of Union Fire Department Steak Feed Fundraiser: The event is postponed until further notice. Firemen will continue to sell tickets until the new date of the Steak Feed.
Hudson Women's Club Spring Luncheon: The event has been postponed to Saturday, Nov. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Taste of Tuscany 2020: The Ellsworth Community School District Foundation has canceled the event.
