MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers become the first big league team to cross the plate against Twins rookie Scott Diamond, but it wasn't enough. Minnesota got three hits and RBIs from Joe Mauer, a homer from Josh Willingham and four hits and three runs batted in from Denard Span in an 11-3 rout of the Brewers. It was the first inter-league game for both teams.
Diamond hadn't allowed a run in his first 14 innings of big league pitching until Milwaukee scored in the first. Diamond wound up giving up three runs in five and a third innings, but he picked up his third win in three decisions.
Corey Hart had a single and a double, while Norichika Aoki pounded a single and a double and drove in a run. Ryan Braun had a home run for the Brewers. Starter Marco Estrada took the loss for the Brewers, surrendering four runs in five innings.
