MADISON: Four members of the St. Croix Valley Fusion hockey team have been named to Wisconsin Girls' Hockey Coaches Association all-state teams.
Megan Murphy of Elmwood was named to the 2005-05 WGHCA All-State First Team while Allison Lunzer of Baldwin-Woodville earned a spot on the second team. Amanda Robinson and Alisha Ellertson of River Falls each received honorable mention.
The St. Croix Valley Fusion completed its inaugural season with a record of 10-4-2. The team is comprised of players from River Falls, Baldwin-Woodville, St. Croix Central and Elmwood high schools. The team is coached by Matt Cranston of River Falls.
Murphy, the lone player on the 2005-06 team from Elmwood, was named first team defense after finishing the season as the top scoring defenseman in the state with 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points. The junior captain was eighth in the state overall in scoring.
Lunzer, a senior, finished the season as the fourth leading scorer in the state and was named second team forward after scoring 18 goals and dishing out 18 assists for 36 points.
Robinson, a sophomore, earned honorable mention defense after finishing the season with 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points, the fourth highest total among defensemen in the state and 15th overall.
Ellertson also earned honorable mention at forward after finishing the season with 14 goals and eight assists. The senior's 22 total points was 13th highest in the state.
A six person first team and a six person second team were named. Any player who received three or more votes and did not make the first or second teams was named honorable mention.
