Donald F. Fuchs, 83, of Ellsworth, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at his home.
Don was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Etter, Minn., the son of Anton and Marie (Liefield) Fuchs.
He married Marie Meier on Aug. 25, 1945, in Hastings, Minn.
Don worked for 3M Company for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Euchre and he was also an avid story teller.
Don was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Trimbelle Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie, of Ellsworth; seven children: Jean (Bob) Filkins; Joe (Sharon) Fuchs; Jeanette (Ron) Gutting; Janel (Larry) Ray; Jaci Fuchs; Jim (DiAnn) Fuchs; and Jeri Lu (Scott) Brenner; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; son in-law, Gerald Filkins; sister, Lucille Davis; and sister in-law, Madeline Fuchs.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Filkins; parents; brothers: Alvin and Francis; and sister, Delores Isaacson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, with Fr. Bill Matzek officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donald's grandsons: Tony and Paul Filkins, Rick Fuchs, Mike Gutting, Bill Ray, Jason Fuchs, Brady Brenner, Tim and Brian Filkins, Don and Jerad Fuchs and Nathan Brenner.
