Local native Sgt. Jeff Linehan will retire after more than 26 years with the River Falls Police Department. Linehan, 50, heads up the investigative/youth services division.
"Jeff's dedication and value to the organization cannot be overstated," Police Chief Roger Leque said. "He is a go-to person to get things done and does a great job."
Linehan joined the River Falls Police as a part-time officer in fall 1982. He went full-time the following year and was promoted to juvenile officer/sergeant in November 1987.
In his current position, Linehan oversees and coordinates investigations, assigns work, manages evidence, and coordinates with the Municipal Court and circuit courts in Pierce and St. Croix counties.
Linehan's last day on the job is expected to be Friday, March 27.
A decision on who will succeed him as lead investigator will be made later.
