When a River Falls police officer pulls you over for one thing, it can lead to something else. A 24-year-old Plum City woman allegedly made an illegal U-turn downtown at Main and Walnut streets at 2 a.m. Saturday. When questioned about the U-turn, an officer smelled alcohol coming from her car. The woman ended up with two fines totaling more than $800 - for the illegal turn and for drunk driving.

At 1:20 a.m. Sunday, at Main and Foster streets, an officer pulled over a 20-year-old River Falls woman because of a badly cracked brake light.

When questioned, the woman couldn't produce her driver's license or say where she was going. She ended up with fines totaling over $1,000 for drunk driving and violating absolute sobriety.

Her two Minnesota male passengers were both given $177 underage drinking fines.

A 30-year-old rural River Falls man was pulled over at Main and Johnson streets last week Tuesday night because his car was badly damaged in different spots. Soon after it was found his driver's license was revoked due to a past alcohol-related violation. He was booked at the police station and given a $250 fine.

Also last week River Fall police:

--Arrested and jailed a 25-year-old woman after she returned to her home in the 400 block of Griffey Street, allegedly drunk, and began arguing with a man who lives with her there. The woman allegedly became upset and threw a bowl of macaroni and tore off the man's necklace.

--Jailed a 21-year-old woman after she was found walking in an unsteady manner in the 900 block of Pine Ridge Terrace just after midnight Saturday. The woman's pants were wet and it appeared as if she'd fallen. Officers were called to the neighborhood because of a report of an intoxicated woman lying in the road. The woman was tested for alcohol use and found to be in violation of a no-drink provision of her court-ordered probation. She was taken to county jail in Hudson.
