My wife and I just witnessed the most ridiculous act by our wonderful law enforcement in town.

As we were sitting at home over the weekend we heard a few gunshots.

We looked outside and saw a car had hit a deer. A few minutes went by and we heard more shots fired.

Then another pause and we heard more.

This deer was shot over 10 times. I'm glad that the deer didn't have to suffer, but we live on East Division Street.

The hospital is a few hundred yards away, and homes within 50 feet. It took 10 shots in the city to shoot a deer laying clearly on hard pavement -- hard pavement that could easily create a ricochet.

Seriously, was that just a trigger-happy moment in our city or just a true lack of marksmanship.

I'm an avid hunter, but this incident makes me a disappointed taxpayer.
