Darrick Johnson apparently took the wrong attitude toward Rosemount police one night late last month, and it's landed him in trouble with the law.
Johnson, 28, of Farmington, was outside a Rosemount business just before 2 a.m. March 20 and, according to police, was "being particularly loud and boisterous."
He directed obscenities toward police and refused to quiet down after being told he would be taken to detox if he didn't.
When police tried to arrest Johnson he struggled and pushed an officer away. He also spit into a police officer's face as he was being taken into custody, according to a complaint filed in the Dakota County Attorney's office.
Johnson has been charged with third degree assault, a felony with a maximum sentence of three years and a maximum fine of $6,000; and obstructing the legal process, a gross misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of one year and a maximum fine of $3,000.
