Two acoustic music groups, the duo of Cindy Mangsen and Steve Gillette and the locally popular Cafe Accordion Orchestra, will perform next weekend at Oak Center General Store, rural Lake City. Mangsen and Gillette will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 10. Gillette is best known as a songwriter, whose music has been recorded by artists including Garth Brooks and John Denver. He is author of " Songwriting and the Creative Process" and also sings baritone and plays guitar. Mangsen also is a songwriter, but her focus is on "songkeeping." She interprets traditional music in her performances, and plays several instruments.
Cafe Accordion will entertain at 8 p.m. Nov. 11. The orchestra performs an eclectic mix of vintage swing, Latin, American and French cafe music. Performers are Dan Newton on accordion, Brian Barnes on guitar, Eric Mohring on mandolin, Erik Lillestol on upright bass, and Joe Steinger on drums. They will be performing selections from their newest CD, "Cinema," a collection of music from movies.
