Harry David Jacobson, 71, of Wanamingo, died Monday at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona. Born May 11, 1937, in Sutton, N.D., to Jacob and Gudrun (Mortenson) Jacobson, he grew up in rural Sutton and attended country school.

@death of veteran:He worked for the railroad for several years before entering the U.S. Army on Feb. 4, 1960. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on April 2, 1962. He started working for C.F. Industries as a crane operator.

@Normal: On Sept. 16, 1967, he married Dorothy Ellefson in Welch. They made their home in several communities before settling in Wanamingo in 1980. He retired in 1999. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo, he enjoyed camping, playing guitar, and teasing and joking.

Survivors inclued his wife, Dorothy; four sons, James (Larita) Brown of Zumbrota, Keith (Betsy) Brown of Goodhue, Dana (Karen) Ellefson of Zumbrota, and David (Kris) Jacobson of White Rock; two daughters, Deanna (Tony) Paulson of Kasson, Minn., and Cindy Carlson of Rushford, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six sisters, Gloria Clemens of Red Wing, Josie (Lawrence) Anderson of Washington, Irene (Ralph) Clemens of Welch, Yvonne (Richard) Clemens of Hannaford, N.D., and Leah Meir and Mildred Jacobson, both of Hastings; and one brother, Kenny (Chan) Jacobson of Wanamingo. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Reuben, Carl, Larry and Jacob; and two sisters, Violet Harrington and Leona Clemens.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with the Rev. Byron Meline officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
