The Washington County Workforce Center will enhance Adult Basic Education (ABE) offerings in its programs, using additional federal stimulus money in a FastTrac Supplemental Plan for the coming year.
The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved the plan at its July 28 meeting.
The FastTrac programs provide basic adult education, for adults who lack basic reading, writing, math, computer literay and employment readiness skills. It also provides access to in-demand occupational training programs.
The Workforce Center works with local ABE programs to provide the training. It worked in partnership with the Forest Lake, South Washington County and Stillwater school districts to submit a plan to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development that requested the $33,000 grant. The money will be split $13,200 for South Washington County; $9,900 for Forest Lake; and $9,900 for Stillwater.
