Cottage Grove police and ambulance responded to an accident shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday that involved a school bus and a vehicle at the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and 95th Street.

According to law enforcement, the driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was eastbound on Jamaica Avenue when the school bus, facing south and stopped at 95th Street, pulled out in front of her.

Police said the bus driver did not see the vehicle, which was "hidden" behind an oncoming semi-truck. The bus driver stopped upon seeing the car but struck the passenger side front wheel, sending the vehicle spinning across both eastbound lanes.

No other vehicles were involved.

The female, who police said was driving around 40 miles per hour, was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Her injuries were non-life-threatening.

There were no injuries reported on the bus.

Students were transferred to another bus and taken to school.

A Minnesota State Patrol commercial vehicle inspector was also on scene.
