Come fall of 2016, Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical could look - and sound - different.

The technical college, which has campuses in Red Wing and Winona, submitted an application to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system to offer the Associate of Arts degree.

The inclusion of the A.A. degree would expand the college’s mission, making it a comprehensive community and technical college and seting in motion a number of changes to be addressed - including the potential for a new name, according to a news release.

Community members can give their feedback as well as ideas 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the main lobby at the Red Wing campus, 308 Pioneer Road.

The community forum at the Winona campus is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Monday Feb. 22.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to better serve the region’s students. We want to include the entire community in the discussion about changing our mission and our name,” said Southeast Technical President Dorothy Duran. “We value public insight into the entire process.”
