Hastings police are investigating the deaths of two people in Hastings. According to a press release issued Tuesday morning, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, Hastings police and EMS responded to a medical call on Three Rivers Drive in Hastings. Once inside the residence, personnel discovered two deceased adults.

This death investigation is being handled by the Hastings Police Department with assistance from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Crime Lab and Hennepin County Coroner’s Office. The case remains under investigation and release of the names is pending.

Hastings Chief of Police Bryan Schafer said the deceased were a female in her late 20s and a male in his early 30s, both residents of Hastings. They were discovered by a relative. Schafer said police believe the deaths had occurred within 24 hours prior to the bodies being discovered.

Schafer said that both victims died by gunshot. However, he said, there does not appear to be any threat to the public.

"We don't believe there's a threat to the community," Schafer said. "It's an isolated incident and we don't believe there are any suspects at large."

Schafer said he's hopeful that more information will be available within the next day, and a complete forensics analysis of the incident should be complete within the next two weeks.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
