A Lake City teenager died and three other people were injured Feb. 22, 2019, after their vehicle collided with a semi-trailer at Highway 61 and Highway 292 south of Red Wing, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
A 2004 Mercury Mountaineer with four occupants was turning from Highway 61 onto East Seventh Street when it collided with a semi-trailer traveling southbound on Highway 61 around 4:27 p.m. Friday, according to a crash report updated Feb. 23.
Passenger Karina Rosemeri Gonzalez-Baltazar, 17, died from her injuries, the report states. The driver, identified by State Patrol as Fidelina Edilma Gonzalez, 35, as well as a 12-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy were transported to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.
The crash closed a stretch of Highway 61 on Friday evening.
All people involved were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not involved, according to the State Patrol.
Red Wing Police Department, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, Red Wing Fire Department and Minnesota Department of Transportation responded to the crash.
