COTTAGE GROVE - RiverTown Multimedia's Sally Shepherd used a drone July 12 to provide an aerial preview of the new $7.2 million Ravine Parkway. The road runs from Jamaica Avenue to Keats Avenue, north of 70th Street near the border with Woodbury.

The roadway is designed with one-way sections bordering a landscaped portion in the middle which intersects Military Road, cutting the sides off from each other. It will provide access to several new residential developments on the northern end of the city.

It will replace Military Road as a link between Jamaica and Keats avenues.

At 00:15, the drone flies over Keats Avenue/CSAH 19 near the Cedarhurst Mansion to the north entrance of Ravine Parkway. A sharp left, and the drone rides the thermals above Ravine Parkway, with the Kingston Fields housing development on the left. At about 1:00 the drone reaches the Jamaica Avenue intersection.

Another section of the new road runs from 65th Street at Hinton Avenue east to Innsdale Avenue. It will include additional paved trails, concrete and landscaped medians, landscaped shoulders, new light fixtures and turn lanes, and utility improvements.

The road was designed as part of the Ravine Master Plan created by staff several years ago.
