Hudson High School Principal Peg Shoemaker was recruited by Middleton-Cross Plains School District near Madison and accepted the high school principal position. The job offer aligns with Shoemaker's personal and professional goals. It will also allow her to be closer to family.
In her resignation announcement, Shoemaker stated, "After six years at Hudson High School and over 28 years in the Hudson School District, it is time for me to make a change.
"I have given everything I've got to the students, staff, and school. This is a decision I did not anticipate, nor did I seek it out. I did not expect it. I thought my career would end at Hudson High School.
"My values and beliefs about student learning and instructional success greatly align with the mission and vision of the Middleton-Cross Plains School District.
"I have loved my time at Hudson High School. The passion of the staff and their commitment to students, their innovation, and their professionalism are an inspiration to me."
"Peg has been a very strong leader at Hudson High School and in other positions in the District," said Hudson School District Superintendent Nick Ouellette. "She will be leaving large shoes to fill. I am very happy for Peg and know this position will provide her more time to be with family.
"She will do outstanding things for the Middleton-Cross Plains School District as she has done for Hudson."
District administration has begun discussions about selecting an interim principal. A plan for a full search will be developed over the summer and fall.
