The Deer Park Public Library is planning its 2007 Summer Reading Program.

The kickoff for the program is June 14 from 3-6 p.m. with balloons, snacks and games. Receive a bag of goodies when you sign up for the reading program.

The library is offering several presentations as part of the summer schedule.

A "Camping Skills & Activities Presentation" is set for June 28 at 6 p.m. Enjoy the great outdoors with Glenn Hanson, long-time Scoutmaster and camping enthusiast. Glenn uses a hands-on approach to teach kids outdoor cooking, camping gear and gadget use and outdoor games.

Taxonomy Presentation: July 12 at 6 p.m. Taxonomy is the scientific classification of plants and animals. The presenter is Marilee Self, an elementary teacher and exotic pet enthusiast. Live organisms will be present and may include a venus flytrap, starfish, crab, frog, turtle, earthworm, bearded dragons, birds, fish and a white rat. There will be time at the end of the presentation for feeding and handling the animals.

The "Finale" is Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. Cake walk and reading are planned.
