President Obama has decided to urge the International Olympic Committee to award the 2016 Summer Games to Chicago.

The Associated Press says Obama and his wife, Michelle, will leave Thursday for Copenhagen, Denmark, where the IOC will hear last-minute pitches and make its final decision on Friday.

Wisconsin would host three Olympic bicycling events if Chicago gets the games. Road racing, mountain biking, and time trials would be held in Madison and the hilly country to the west of the city.

And the athletes would stay in a newly-constructed dorm on the University of Wisconsin campus.

Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro are also in the running for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Last week, there were reports that Obama would not lobby on Chicago's behalf, because he didn't want to come home without the games.
