A special state Assembly committee will hold its second meeting today on a resolution to expel Representative Jeff Wood.

The six-member panel was formed after Whitewater Republican Steve Nass introduced a resolution to remove Wood for his three OWI offenses in just more than a year.

Wood, an Independent from Chippewa Falls, was arrested twice for driving while impaired by anti-anxiety medications and once for driving drunk and possessing marijuana.

The special Assembly ethics panel has been gathering information on Wood's cases and will review its findings today. The head of the panel said she wanted Wood to give the committee his side of the story before it makes any recommendations.

The 40-year-old Wood has said he will step down after next year's elections - but Nass said he should leave now.
