CHASKA, Minn. -- The Wingers girls golf team started strong but faded slightly down the stretch to finish second at the eight-team Chaska Invitational Monday at Hazeltine National Golf Club. Red Wing shot a 389 to finish seven shots behind Bemidji.
"We were leading by three or four shots after nine," Red Wing coach Mark Herzog said. "We just didn't have a good back nine."
Senior Sam Hager was the Wingers top finisher with a 91. Herzog said a strong short game carried her in her first outing of the season. Junior Kathleen Ritter fired a 93, but shot a disappointing 48 on the back nine.
