St. Croix and Pierce county communities will join others throughout the nation the week of April 18 to honor National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
St. Croix County will commemorate the week with a reading of victims' rights, and information on those rights April 19 during the noon hour in the first floor county board room at the government center in Hudson, said Amanda Mollner, an intern in the local victim/witness office.
Officials in St. Croix and Pierce counties will combine to celebrate victims' rights at 7 p.m. on April 20 at Veteran's Park on Main Street in River Falls. This event will include representation of victims served in the area in 2009, the 'Reading of the Rights' and a poem. Information on local agencies that support the program will be offered.
A number of area agencies that deal in law enforcement, prosecution, rehabilitation and shelter and other areas involved with victims' rights will host a self-defense and self-protection seminar on April 21 at the Midwest Center for Movement in Hudson.
