Ice Occasions takes two firsts in Winter Carnival contest

For the second straight year, Ice Occasions in Ellsworth won two first places in the St. Paul Winter Carnival ice sculpture contest.

The business won the multi-block ice carving and the individual block competitions. Owner Chris Swarbrick and partner Greg Schmotzer combined in the multi-block contest with "The Pearl," a shipwreck. Schmotzer earned first place in the individual block with "Waiting for Lunch," while Swarbrick finished third with "Cutting Edge."

Ice Occasions has been owned by Swarbrick since 1999 and is located in East Ellsworth. They offer single and block ice carvings, table centerpieces, bards, drink luges, accessories, corporate logos, vases, punchbowls and serving dishes.
