Pierce County sheriff’s deputies said alcohol was likely a factor in a Sunday ATV crash that left a Beldenville man injured.

Deputies were called at 12:56 a.m. to an ATV crash on County Road J near Highway 65 in the town of Trimbelle.

According to a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department news release, David W. Scamp, 47, was riding the ATV on County Road J and attempting to turn into his driveway when he lost control and struck the face of a guard rail.

The impact threw Scamp from the ATV, which overturned. He was transported by Ellsworth ambulance to River Falls Area Hospital with “undetermined” injuries, according to the release.

“It appears at this time that alcohol was a contributing factor in this accident,” according to deputy Andrew Thoms.

Ellsworth firefighters assisted in the crash, which remains under investigation.
