Law enforcement officials confirmed the four people killed Monday in the Amery-area plane crash were Hudson-area residents.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, pilot Daniel Ortner, of North Hudson, and passengers Eric Larson, Michael Larson and Matthew Larson - all three of Hudson -- were the four people aboard the flight that crashed Monday evening. Michael and Matthew Larson were the sons of Eric Larson.
At 5:24 p.m. the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single engine airplane crash in the area of 150th Street and 30th Avenue in the Town of Alden in southwest Polk County (see related story).
Witnesses indicated that the single engine airplane crashed in a field near Amery and that the airplane and field were burning. Deputies responding to the scene found a single engine Beechcraft aircraft burning in the field. Polk County Sheriff Pete Johnson said the four people on board all died.
