TOWN OF WESTON -- A 32-year-old Elmwood man was killed in a one-vehicle roll-over crash at about 12:15 p.m. Thursday in the town of Weston near Elmwood.

Richard L. Baier was pronounced dead at the scene. Pierce County Assistant District Attorney Rory O'Sullivan confirmed Friday that Baier was the same person who was rushed to a Twin Cities hospital after allegedly being stabbed March 21 in Spring Valley.

According to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol, Baier was traveling northbound on County Road P in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer when he failed to follow a curve and lost control of the vehicle. There were no passengers.

The Blazer crossed the southbound lane and entered the west ditch about a half-mile south of 350th Avenue. He was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash. They were assisted on scene by Elmwood Police, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Dunn County Sheriff’s Department, Elmwood Fire and EMS.
