A Woodbury police officer was taken to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after his vehicle was rear-ended around 2 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, on Interstate 494 at Tamarack Road, according to a Minnesota State Patrol incident report.

Officer Bryan Wagner, 30, was stopped in the center median in a 2016 Ford Explorer Woodbury police squad when a tow truck northbound on 494 drifted off the road and struck his vehicle from behind, the report states.

The driver of the tow truck, identified by authorities as Joshua Benjamin Barnhill, 45, of Oakdale, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the state patrol.

Woodbury PIO Michelle Okada said an initial investigation showed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, though the cause is unknown. The State Patrol is investigating.
