The Dakota County sheriff’s office is looking for the people that helped push a car off railroad tracks in Hastings Tuesday morning.
“Our office knows of one of the bystanders that assisted in this call,” the office said in a Facebook post. “We are currently seeking the other two so we can recognize them for the heroic act.”
Police were called to the tracks by Ravenna Trail and Polk Avenue about 4:41 a.m Tuesday.
Although dispatch requested Canadian Pacific Railway stop all trains on those tracks, there wasn’t enough time to avoid a collision.
Three bystanders pushed the vehicle off the tracks while the car’s owner was still inside.
The owner received minor injuries.
“Thank you to the citizens that stopped to assist,” the office said in the post. “If it were not for them, this could have potentially had a different outcome for the driver.”
