A Polk County man was killed Saturday in a St. Croix County crash.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 23-year-old Amery resident Corey Allen Peterson.
Deputies responded at 2:59 p.m. Aug. 17 to the 2300 block of Highway 46 in the town of Cylon for a crash reported by a passerby who noticed an SUV down an embankment. Deputies and first responders found Peterson, who had been thrown from a 1998 Jeep Cherokee.
The St. Croix County medical examiner pronounced Peterson dead at the scene. Deputies said he was not wearing a seat belt.
The incident was one of three crashes Saturday in the town of Cylon between 11:53 a.m. and 4:11 p.m.
Officers were also assisted at the scene by Deer Park fire and rescue crews, along with New Richmond EMS. The crash, St. Croix County’s 10th traffic fatality of the year, remains under investigation.
