A southbound 15-barge tow briefly went outside the navigation channel and broke a coupling wire Monday, June 8, at the head of Lake Pepin between Presbyterian and Frederick’s points.

Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance captured the process on time-lapse video.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, reported the Motor Vessel Bruce L. Hahn experienced some difficulties at the upper end of Lake Pepin near the town of Wacouta.

"The tow was not grounded but did receive assistance before proceeding south," according to the USACE maintenance team in Fountain City, Wisconsin.

The channel was later reopened without restrictions.
