A 26-year-old woman hospitalized after a Woodbury vehicle fire died Monday.

Woodbury police confirmed Wednesday that the woman, Woodbury resident Kelly Marie Shropshire, died.

Shropshire was hospitalized after firefighters responded at 6:53 p.m. March 29 for a report of a blue Jeep on fire near Woodbury Café in the 700 block of Bielenberg Drive. According to a police report, Shropshire was located at a nearby business. A Regions emergency room doctor on the scene first tended to Shropshire, according to the report.

Shropshire was transported under advanced life support to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

"Obviously, it's a sad situation," said Woodbury police Cmdr. Steve Wills said, adding that news of Shropshire's death was taken hard by emergency crew members who "worked really hard" to save her.

According to her Myspace music site, Shropshire was a model, singer and actress.

Her online bio states the New Orleans native came to the Twin Cities after her family evacuated the city when Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home. She was a 2003 graduate of Ursuline Academy High School in New Orleans.

According to the bio, Shropshire had also lived in New York, N.Y., where she modeled and studied marketing. In addition to releasing music online, Shropshire also appeared in music videos and a television commercial as part of her resume.

The fire is under investigation by Woodbury police and fire officials. Wills said the state fire marshal also has been notified.

It was not clear how Shropshire was injured.

Don Gorrie of the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy has been ordered through the hospital.

The cause of Shropshire's death has not yet been finalized "pending further results," Gorrie said.
