ELLSWORTH -- A Red Wing man has been charged in Pierce County Circuit Court with exposing genitals and possession of child pornography.

Anthony Eugene Johnson, 25, faces penalties of $10,000 and 42 months prison if found guilty of the Class I felonies. His first court appearance is scheduled for April 1.

According to the criminal complaint, an FBI agent met with Ellsworth police last March and said Johnson had sent and received nude photographs in August 2011 to a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl living in Michigan. The FBI was posing as the girl. The agent told police the images were sent while Johnson's cellphone was connected to a wireless connection out of a Ellsworth restaurant.

Johnson was incarcerated at the Pierce County Jail during 2011 but also was allowed to work as a cook at the restaurant.

When Ellsworth police interviewed Johnson in March 2012, Johnson said remembered receiving explicit pictures from the girl while he was at the restaurant. In response, he sent back pictures of his face, chest and private parts to her. He said he knew she was 13, but he still sent the images.

Police then searched his phone and found several images of nude young females or wearing little clothing, according to the complaint.

Online court records show Johnson pled guilty in 2010 in Pierce County to police battery, misdemeanor battery and resisting/obstructing an officer. In 2011, in a separate incident, he was guilty of police battery, misdemeanor battery and two counts of criminal damage to property.
