An unoccupied stolen vehicle was found in the water and recovered by authorities near the boat launch in New Richmond’s Mary Park on Sunday, Aug. 4.
St. Croix and Washington County joint dive team was called in to check for evidence of foul play associated with the vehicle registered for Wisconsin at the scene.
According to a news release, the New Richmond police department responded to a call at 1:10 p.m. Aug. 4 for what appeared to be a vehicle in the water at 401 North Green Ave. The New Richmond fire department confirmed the vehicle was in the water.
According to New Richmond Police Chief Craig Yehlik, a license plate check revealed the motor vehicle was reported stolen in October 2018.
