At the Red Wing School Board meeting on May 6, the board unanimously approved the termination of Bart Gray as the district's activities director.
Gray is the fourth activities director in four years for Red Wing Public Schools. Gray has held the post for two years, and his last day will be June 30.
Superintendent Karsten Anderson said the personnel committee will look into the "significantly lower" pay that Red Wing ADs have received over the past few years as compared to the rest of the Big 9 Conference.
As to why there has been so much turnover at the position, Anderson said the district has had ADs who are on an accelerated track, moving quickly after being in Red Wing.
In the case of the two most recent ADs in Red Wing, John Miller accepted the same position in his home state of Wisconsin, while Matt Schultz accepted the superintendent position in Lanesboro.
Anderson said the district will post the full-time position in May, hoping to hire a candidate in June.
According to the board packet documents, Gray's last day is June 30, the last fiscal day of the year for the district.
A reason for Gray's termination was not given, as there was no discussion; personnel matters were part of the consent agenda.
Board members Mike Christensen and Jim Bryant were not present for the board meeting.
