On Friday, May 10 Willow River Elementary celebrated its 14th annual Young Author Day. The theme this year was "Reading and Music Through the Decades" and 100 years of education in Hudson were highlighted throughout the day.
Students began the day with a scavenger hunt around the building featuring historical trivia and then grades rotated through a variety of stations. Stations included a "one-room schoolhouse," music and dancing through the decades, and storytelling.
Grades created "time capsules" which will be stored in an old safe that was once used by the superintendent and each student received a book on behalf of the Willow River Parent group. At the end of the day, students gathered in small groups to share their own publications. The day wrapped up with an all-school "sock hop."
This day would not be possible without the tremendous support from the Willow River Parent Group!
