SOMERSET -- Citizens of the Somerset School District approved a tentative tax levy of $6,781,299, with a projected mill rate of $9.44 per $1,000 value at its annual meeting on Monday, Sept. 9, at the district office.

Those present also authorized the board to acquire real estate, designate sites for district buildings and provide for erection of suitable school buildings, direct and provide for the prosecution and defense of legal procedures, authorize actual and necessary expenses of the board members for travel when required, authorize the sale of property and/or items and approved the board of education salaries for 2019-2020 at $70 per meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Mark Bezek gave a short presentation about the district as a whole, including that the district’s enrollment is up by seven students from last year’s count at this time.

District representatives also set 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2020, for the 2020 annual meeting.
