Village of Bay City purchases Bluff Country campground
Bluff Country Campground has a new owner in the form of the Village of Bay City.
The village approved the purchase of the campground back in April, after Village President James Turvaville called it "a good business proposition" after a September board meeting.
The village purchased the property from previous owner and Bay City resident Donald Peavey for $300,000, the appraised value of the property according to Turvaville.
The village previously and still owns the Bay City Campground, which Bluff Country Campground will now be known under as well, where both campsites are located right next to each other on Lake Pepin.
There was not a public meeting to hear from residents on their opinion of the possible purchase, but the village did have multiple meetings where they discussed the purchase. Turvaville and fellow board member Jesse Hohmann said they asked people around the community for their opinion on the matter.
As far as future plans for the campground, the village is still in discussions about improvements, but hope to incorporate the land with their multi-purpose trail along Lake Pepin.
Bay City Campground is open from May through October, with reservations being taken from March 1 of each year.
