This week, State Sen. Karla Bigham, DFL-Cottage Grove, introduced legislation that would give new funding for infrastructure improvements to Highway 316, a statement from the Minnesota Senate said Friday.

Over $2.5 million in funding would be provided to improving the safety and traffic flow on the highway in the southern parts of Hastings. Improvements to the section of the highway between Highway 61 and Tuttle Drive include three roundabouts, extensions of trails along the highway, crosswalks and a center median.

"I want to thank the City of Hastings for their collaborative approach in getting this done. This funding is critical to making sure we are addressing the full scope of issues that we need to — let's not put this off," Bigham said in the statement.
