The iron bridge on Grey Cloud Island Trail has reopened. Consultants from Stantec, an engineering and construction firm, inspected the structure April 4 and determined that there was no damage from water or debris.
A crew with Cottage Grove Public Works removed all barriers Friday. The Mississippi River at St. Paul crested at 19.83 feet Sunday and water levels at the iron bridge are receding.
The city closed the bridge last month. They weighted it with concrete barriers to provide more stability against the powerful current.
