The city of Red Wing provided an update on street and sidewalk construction Friday, July 19, 2019.

Work will begin the week of July 22 on Guernsey Lane between Highway 58 and the high school, Goodhue Street South between Guernsey Lane and Eagle Ridge Drive, and Eagle Ridge Drive between Flower Valley Road and Red Wing High School.

According to a news release:

Crews will be working on replacing pedestrian ramps at the Eagle Ridge Drive/Goodhue Street South intersection and some locations within the high school property along Guernsey Lane and Eagle Ridge Drive to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. This work will involve some street pavement patching and replacement of some valley gutters across the side streets. The pedestrian ramp work will likely be finished the week of July 29.

Milling and paving work on these streets will likely occur in mid-August.

All roadways will remain open during construction activities; however, parking restrictions, flaggers, and traffic control devices may be utilized to allow for safe travel around the construction zones.

Meanwhile, due to delays elsewhere on the project,  downtown sidewalk work previously scheduled to start next week will be delayed until after River City Days. This work is now scheduled to begin on August 5.

The projects are:

  • West Avenue (Main Street to West Seventh Street)
  • East Avenue (Main Street to West Seventh Street)
  • West Third Street (West Avenue to East Avenue)
  • West Fourth Street (West Avenue to East Avenue)
  • West Fifth Street (East Avenue to Bush Street)

Crews will be working on replacing pedestrian ramps along these streets to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. This work will involve some street pavement patching and replacement of some valley gutters across the side streets.

Sidewalks on only one side of the street will be closed at a time so that pedestrians can use the other side sidewalk as a detour during the work.

Milling and paving work on these streets will likely occur in mid-August. Periodic travel lane and parking lane closures will occur during the construction work. Parking closures will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of taking effect.
