Ellsworth Village Board did the right thing Monday, agreeing in the face of citizen opposition to seek grant funds for the infrastructure improvements so Ellsworth Creamery to expand.
Certainly whey powder "dusts" East Ellsworth. Producing cheese curbs generates odors, too.
The village, state and creamery can work together to mitigate these nuisances, provided that the 100-year-old creamery is around to do so. Solving the problems will be much easier than replacing 80-plus jobs. Ellsworth must keep and grow its creamery.
