Last fall, the River Falls Fire Department began using The Lutheran Home building as a space to hold a few of their trainings. This has drawn attention from other community organizations.
Recently, a dozen members of the St. Croix County Sheriff Emergency Response Unit (ERU) used the space to hold a training session. This unit operates with two medics, a K-9 and a robot.
The purpose of the training was to simulate a search and rescue mission. Sheriffs used rifles and pistols with detergent based simulation rounds. The rounds don't cause any real damage; however, it still marks if you get hit by one. It is important for full gear to be used while training, especially the members acting as the suspects.
The Lutheran Home Association is happy to provide a space for those who serve and protect our community. Members of the River Falls community should not be surprised if fire trucks, police vehicles or vehicles from other organizations are parked in The Lutheran Home lot.
