This July, stop by the Hudson Area Public Library for our fifth annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ice Cream Social is a fun, all ages event; it's being presented in partnership with the Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation. Members from both groups will be in the library lobby serving root beer floats and The Bazillions, a popular band that plays fun music for all ages will perform from 11 a.m. to noon.

The Ice Cream Social is especially meaningful to us, the library staff, because it's our chance to thank you - the community - for all of the support we have received over the last year. Many community members have made generous donations to the Library Foundation, who in turn uses those funds to provide support for the growth and enhancement of the Hudson Library and broader community. This summer, thanks to the Library Foundation, we have been able to hire special performers, plan community programs and offer great prizes as part of the Summer Reading Program. These programs have been met with a fantastic response from the community.

The Friends of the Hudson Library is a group of dedicated volunteers whose goal is to enhance, expand and promote the library's services and resources. They raise funds year-round through spring, fall book sales and pop-up book sales, in addition to maintaining a bookstore on the second floor of the library that is open all year. These funds are used to support the Hudson Library in a variety of ways, including programming and library development projects.

The Ice Cream Social is our chance to thank you for supporting the library, to acknowledge the hard work of the Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library, and to encourage Hudson area residents to continue seeing us, the library, as a community gathering place where knowledge flows freely. Thank you and we'll see you at the library!
